This fantasy football season - friends of mine in our league decided on a last place “punishment” - run a lemonade stand in public and donate proceeds to charity. After an admittedly bad season - here I am, last place, and it’s time to make the most of it.

I plan to run a small lemonade stand outside of Rizzo Rink, on Tuesday July 29th from 6:10-8:30. Anyone who can make the event, or who can't make the event and want to donate to a great cause - can Venmo me @mikemck15, or this website directly; as my cause will be Leiomyosarcoma Support & Direct Research Foundation - an organization driven to cure the rare and under-researched cancer that my mom ultimately passed from in 2010.

The stand will offer lemonade, electrolyte drinks for dehydrated players, snacks, and more!

 The inclement weather date will be Tuesday August 5th.

Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is an aggressive form of soft tissue sarcoma, rare cancers that make up <1% of all cancers in the US. Leiomyosarcomas specifically are rarer, seen in every 2 - 6 people per million in the US, depending on the type. Because leiomyosarcoma is so rare, it receives minimal research funding compared to common cancers. This creates critical challenges: few targeted therapies exist, survival rates can be as low as 15-25% for advanced cases, and many oncologists have limited LMS experience. The small patient population also makes it difficult to conduct the clinical trials needed for new treatments. My goal is to contribute just a little bit to this direct research and help out the organization and make the most of this chartiable event!

Our mission is to empower patients with information and support, fund groundbreaking LMS research and provide a bridge between patients and researchers, to collaborate on finding a cure.
