Allison Craig Scanlan, 61, born In Jackson, Mississippi, October 28, 1959, died August 29, 2021, in Sarasota, Florida, after an almost five-year battle with the rare cancer, leiomyosarcoma.

Known for her wit, beauty, warmth, and talent for fashion, she proved herself even in the manner of her going. Cheerful, gorgeous, self-deprecating, sharp, and funny to the day of her death, she submitted to multiple chemotherapies, radiation's and surgeries without bitterness or self-pity.

Allison attended St. Andrew's Day School, Jackson Preparatory, and graduated from the University of Mississippi. She began her career in the cruise industry, but art and fashion became her métier. She designed and manufactured jeweled dog collars in Manhattan and co-edited the Journal of Decorative & Propaganda Arts in Miami. She co-founded Addison Craig, a phenomenal shoe store on St. Armands Circle and in Nantucket.

She surrounded herself with family, friends and animals, and during her long illness, they surrounded her. She adored her husband Peter and her children. She was always there, the laughing voice on the phone, the warm arms. She was captivating in her storytelling and her natural beauty, and people were charmed by her infectious spirit. A voracious reader, a competitive tennis player, an avid runner, she had the heart of a lioness.

She is survived by her husband Peter Scanlan; her children Tighe Locke Mullins, Linden Glory Mullins, and Peter Phineas Scanlan; her stepchildren Leah Scanlan McCall, Matthew Ian Scanlan and Daniel James Scanlan; her mother Norma Watkins and stepfather Les Cizek; and her siblings Clay, Linden, and Thomas Craig. Her father Fred Craig, predeceased her.
