On March 17, 2025, two weeks short of her 40th birthday, Liz Green died of complications from a 5-year battle with Leiomyosarcoma. Throughout her struggle Liz remained hopeful and even when discouraged and in pain she was constantly providing support, information, companionship, and uplift to LMS patients around the globe. Even before her diagnosis, especially through her job with Tulsa Youth Services, Liz reached out to those in need, particularly the homeless, the addicted, the rejected, and the otherwise disadvantaged. She was a fierce fighter of injustice and a tender hearted friend, full of humor, sarcasm, idealism, righteous anger, and persistence. With no established protocol for LMS treatment, she, like so many LMS patients, tried virtually all the available chemotherapies. Yet the cancer eventually spread throughout her body. Like everyone touched by this rare cancer, her wish and hope was always that there would be something new and effective developed that could finally make a difference. That hope remained with her until her final day, and remains with those of us left behind.
